It may not have the brand-name recognition of those other SUVs, but the GV70 makes up for it with a splashy look and a beautiful interior that are undeniably upscale, so even if people can't name it, they'll know it's high-end when they see it. A turbo four or twin-turbo six provides more than enough power, and all-wheel drive is standard on every model. Handling is nimble, if not exactly Porsche Macan crisp, and the GV70's ride is comfortable when you just want to cruise in peace. The rear seat could be more spacious, so if you're regularly toting passengers, it might be better to upgrade to the larger and even more luxurious GV80.
Engine Performance
The GV70 is available with either a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder or a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine. The four-cylinder serves as the entry-level engine and makes 300 horsepower while the V-6 makes 375 horsepower. While a manual transmission is offered with the turbo four in the G70 sedan, the GV70 sticks with an eight-speed automatic as standard equipment; all-wheel drive is also standard. During our initial test drive, we noted discernible athleticism, especially in the Sport Plus driving mode, and the twin-turbo V-6 pulled strong: At our test track, the GV70 with the V-6 delivered an impressive 4.9-second zero-to-60-mph time. Since then, we've adopted a V-6 GV70 into our long-term test fleet, and it's even quicker, making the run to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds.
